Although abdominal pain during pregnancy often occurs in the lower abdomen, but the onset of pain may also occur in the abdomen lan. 

In most cases, the pain is not a serious problem. But for others, the pain can be a symptom of a serious problem.

Causes of Abdominal Pain 
Here are some of the causes of abdominal pain during pregnancy

1. Ectopic Pregnancy 
Ectopic pregnancy occurs when the embryo is outside the uterine cavity. 
In most cases of ectopic pregnancy, embryo implantation occurs in the fallopian tubes. 
However, the embryo is also present in the cervix, ovaries, or stomach area. 
If not treated immediately, ectopic pregnancy can cause bleeding and other complications. 
This condition is life-threatening and require immediate attention. 

2. Miscarriage 
Miscarriage widely experienced in the period of the first few months of pregnancy. 
If a woman feels pain in the abdomen, followed by weakness and discharge of blood, promptly contact your doctor. 

3. Preeclampsia 
One of the main causes of pain in the abdomen is preeclampsia that occurs during the second or third trimester. 
This condition occurs when a pregnant woman suffering from hypertension or high blood pressure with increasing protein content in the urine. 
Preeclampsia causes changes in blood vessels and certain organs of the body such as the kidneys, brain, and heart can be affected. These conditions also negatively affect the placenta. 

4. HELLP syndrome 
HELLP syndrome is a disorder that usually occurs during the last three months of pregnancy. 
HELLP stands for 'hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelet count'. 
When experiencing this condition, there was severe pain in the upper right side of the abdomen. HELLP syndrome may lead to the occurrence of preeclampsia.
